Activities
We have holiday camp (June), holiday study camp (Sep ) as well as practice sessions during the year. These activities serve to provide bonding of the students as well as instil a sense of belonging to the school as we try to groom these to be athletic basketball players from the average student we took in from Secondary One.
Competitions
In the first term, (Feb 16 to Mar 4) we participated in the National Inter School Basketball ‘B’ Division Championships (South Zone). We started well by beating Bishan Secondary School 35 vs 11. However, we lost to the better and fitter teams from Henderson Secondary (22 vs 44), Raffles Institution (27 vs 67) and Guangyang (8 vs 65).
In the third term (Jun 30 to Jul 7), we participated in the National Inter School Basketball ‘C’ Division Championships (South Zone). We were fielded in the stronger groups comprising Raffles Institituion, National Junior College and Guangyang Secondary. Despite losing all matches, we managed to score against Raffles Institution and Guangyang which we were proud as they were the average lower secondary student picking up basketball whilst in Outram.
Achievements
We also enrolled in Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools (ACICS) from January to April organised by the American International School. We emerged First Runners-up in the respective division. We were proud that the boys managed to improve themselves during the competition and sharpen their skills in basketball.
Others
During the year, we drew basketball court lines in the Main Hall. This is to enable the students to have additional venues apart from the Legacy Court (Open Court) and Sports Hall. However, since September due to the construction of new Sports Building, the Legacy Court is out of bounds.
