2014
On 19 May 2014, the Chinese Unit held the annual Outram Superstar Mandarin Singing Competition. Participants from all levels got together to compete in this competition. It was a good platform for budding talents to display their singing talent. The audience had an enjoyable time listening to their beautiful voices.

Mid Autumn Festival 2014
The Mother Tongue Language (MTL) Department Chinese Unit was invited to participate in the Toa Payoh Central Mid Autumn Festival on 6 September (Saturday) evening. A booth on Tea Appreciation was set up and there was demonstration on tea brewing. The public also get to taste the Chinese tea brewed and there was good interaction with the community.
Mother Tongue Language Symposium 2014
The Mother Tongue Language(MTL) Department Chinese Unit participated in the MTL Symposium 2014 on 23 August (Saturday). We showcased our Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) course, which is part of the Enhanced Mother Tongue Language curriculum. Student presenters were there to interact and explain to the public on the programmes and activities, and also played TCM-related games with the young children. Our students shared their learning experiences and also gained greater confidence in themselves.
Duanwu Carnival at Toa Payoh Central on 25 May 2014
On 25 May 2014, the Mother Tongue Language Department CL Unit was invited by Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations to participate in Duanwu Carnival 2014.
We set up booths on Dragon Boat Festival, Tea Appreciation and our TCM curriculum. Our students presented on the topics and demonstrated the steps for tea brewing. It was a wonderful learning experience for our students as they interacted with the public and shared their knowledge on Chinese culture.
Chinese New Year Celebration 2014
On 31 January 2104, the eve of Chinese New Year, the Mother Tongue Language Department put up the Chinese New Year concert for the school.
The celebration started off with the entertaining performance by the Lion Dance Troupe. Then, it was followed by our own video production comprising of Chinese New Year songs and the New Year greetings brought to us by our Outram staff.
Our school dancers presented two items: a Hip-hop dance and a Broadway Dance. Students enjoyed the vibrant and energetic dance performances put up. A group of Malay dancers also presented an item which was a fusion of the traditional Malay performance known as Dikir Barat.
There were also a couple of song presentation from guest and teachers. Senior citizen, Mdm Goh Kim Eng presented us with the New Year song “贺新年”. Our teachers also participated, with Mr Ng Yan Kong singing a Cantonese song “倚天屠龙记” and five teachers Miss Serene Cheong, Miss Yap Qiu Hong, Miss Tan Xi Ling, Miss Yeo Yang Hong and Miss Goh Ban Leng sang a Mandarin song “分享”。
A group of students from different races and level also came together to present a Chinese Rap entitled “Four Seasons”. Next, Yang Yanhua of Sec 4/3A sang a song “看月亮爬上来”. The Chinese Orchestra brought to us two melodious music “拜年”and “恭喜恭喜”.
The next exciting moment was the arrival of the God of Fortune. Some students were invited to play a word game with him on stage.
We ended the concert with group singing songs “恭喜恭喜” and “拜年”, followed by yusheng and light refreshment at the amphitheatre.
