National Day Celebration 2016
National Day Celebration 2016
This year, the National
Day celebration was themed "Building Our Singapore
of Tomorrow". Departing from the reflective and appreciative mood of
the Jubilee year, the celebrative spirit of our nation’s 51st
birthday sings to the future.
The celebration kicked off in the morning with the National Day Observance Ceremony by the uniformed groups and the Concert Band percussionists. The contingent was led by Sergeant Brennan Heng of the Boys' Brigade. This was followed by the presentation of the Academic and CCA Awards to students who have achieved excellence in these arenas.
Next, the National Heritage Board delivered an informative presentation and a fun quiz on the various famous monuments in Singapore. The final segment of the day was the concert which everyone was looking forward to. Brilliant performances by the Gu Zheng ensemble and budding student crooners, Chloe, Chelsea and Carlouie lit up the stage. Teacher performers including Ms Elyani, Mrs Chua and the beginning teachers also lent the occasion their star power. Our guests from Deyang Number 5 Middle School from China, on an exchange programme to the school, delivered a sincere and heartfelt rendition of two Chinese songs to wish our nation well. The concert ended on a high note with a mass singing session led by teachers, with the whole school singing along to their favourite national day songs.
Majulah Singapore!
