OPEL 2016
Outram Project Experiential Learning (OPEL 2016)
OUTRAM PROJECT BASED EXPERENTIAL LEARNING WEEK (OPEL) 2016 was held in school during the last week of Term 1 with the various levels (Secondary 1 to 3) working in teams to undertake a project with graded deliverables. These projects feature different elements of Business and Enterprise that allow our students to have an earlier start to being exposed to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and business skills. As a special for Outram’s 110th Anniversary, the objectives of the OPEL projects this year were more school-centric.
The Secondary 1 students carried our research on ex-Outramians who are entrepreneurs. From Jean Yip to Irene Ang, the Secondary 1s produced impressive feature boards that taught us more about local entrepreneurs that are part of Outram’s alumni. The best feature boards were chosen for an inter-class competition!
The Secondary 2 students learnt more about Branding and Marketing through an elective module planned for them. They exuded much creative energy in their marketing posters and the best have been selected for print to be used for our school’s marketing campaign!
From in-house Lasertag, reselling popular items from Taobao at a profit to having a water balloon fight on a trampoline at the school’s carnival, the Secondary 3 students brainstormed to come up with innovative ideas to attract others at a school carnival with the aim of raising funds for a non-profit organization. The best idea from each class was chosen to be pitched against one another and 3/2 (NA) and 3/5 (Express) walked away with the most ingenious ideas complete with financial plans!
