Social Studies (Paper 1)

Assessment:

Duration – 1hr 45min

50 marks

Section A

(35 marks)

Five Source-based Questions will be set based on the 3 issues:

-       Exploring Citizenship and Governance

-       Living in a Diverse Society

-       Being Part of a Globalised World

Questions 1 to 4 will be worth 25 marks and Question 5 will be worth 10 marks.

Section B

(15 marks)

Two Structured-Response Question will be set based on the 3 issues.

Question 6 [7 marks]:

Constructing explanations by giving reasoned argument and/or making recommendation on an issue (multiple strategies/ multi-causal).  Question will require consideration of the issue in the context of Singapore

Question 7 [8 marks]:

Constructing explanations of two factors/perspectives on an issue and making judgement on the relative importance of factors or giving balanced conclusion on the issue.




















Geography Elective (Paper 2)

Assessment:

Duration – 1hr 40min

50 marks

Section A

(13 marks)

Two structured questions to Geographical Investigations will be set based on the following topics:

-       Global Tourism

-       Variable Weather & Changing Climate

One question will be set on each topic.  The question will be set on the geographical skills and investigations related to the topic.

Candidates must answer one question in this section.

Section B

(12 marks)

Two structured questions will be set based on the following topics:

-       Global Tourism

-       Variable Weather & Changing Climate

One question will be set based on a specific topic.  One other question will be set on a combination of topics.

Candidates must answer one question in this section.

Section C

(25 marks)

Two structured questions will be set based on the following topics:

-       Living with Tectonic Hazards

-       Food Resources

One question will be set based on a specific topic.  One other question will be set on a combination of topics.

Candidates must answer one question in this section.


History Elective (Paper 2)

Assessment:

Duration – 1hr 40min

50 marks

Section A

(30 marks)

One Source-based Question will be set.  There will be 5 sub-questions.

Candidates must answer the question in this section.

Section B

(20 marks)

Two Structured-Essay Questions will be set.

Each question has 2 sub-parts:

Part (a) requires explanation of events or issues [8m]

Part (b) requires evaluation and making judgement on events or issues [12m]

Candidates must answer one question in this section.
